Before the day: the photo survey

Then the electrical tests, and the part people remember: the app. The installer pairs the charger, sets the schedule around your tariff's cheap hours, and shows you a first charge running. It runs longer than a few hours where the consumer unit needs work first or the cable route is awkward, which the photo survey will have already told you.

Three things should exist when the job is done: an electrical installation certificate for the work, the commissioning record for the charger, and confirmation that your electricity network operator has been notified there is a charger on the supply. The notification is routine and the installer handles it; you just want to know it happened.
That file is what proves the install to your insurer, the grant scheme where it applies, and the next owner of the house. It is also a decent test of the firm: installers who volunteer the paperwork tend to be the ones who did the job properly.
